After beating the league leaders Bromley at Holker Street, relegation threatened Barrow brought home a point from second-in-the-table MK Dons.
Four points from games against the top two are massive encouragement for the Bluebirds who are next to bottom in what looks like an any two from five to drop formula in the League Two survival battle.
This was another stutter, though, for the Dons who have now gone three games without a win and had several chances to stop the rot against the Cumbrians.
As teams enter the final furlong the Dons are two points above the main pursuers for automatic promotion while Barrow are one point from safety and do have a game in hand.
MK Dons created a number of opportunities in the first-half as Aaron Collins was denied by Barrow keeper Wyll Stanway; Ben Wiles had an effort which struck the outside of the post and Bluebirds recent signing Angus MacDonald made a timely block on the line to keep out an effort from Callum Paterson.
It was Barrow who went closest on the restart when substitute Scott Smith was agonisingly just wide with a snap shot.
Stanway was Barrow’s hero as the game progressed, denying both Jack Sanders and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing before producing his best stop in added time when he somehow got to Joe Tomlinson’s header and earned his side a precious point from a vital shut-out.
