A West Cumbrian golf day next month is aiming to help save men’s lives.
The event, at Workington Golf Club on Saturday May 9, will raise cash for Prostate Cancer UK and other charities with a local connection.
Now in its fourth year, it is organised by a dedicated volunteer committee who spend 12 months putting the event together.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men – with one in eight men getting the disease. And if you’re over 50 or you have a family history of the disease, then your risk is even higher.
But the earlier you find it, the easier it is to treat.
Over the last 12 months, the golf day and other events have raised £17,000 for Prostate Cancer UK and other charities.
It is organised by Andrew Clemence, Howard Nicholson, Kelly Morgan, Carl Metherell and Ken Harper.

The team said their aims were to host a good day of golf and entertainment and highlight the importance of men getting checked out for prostate cancer.
The sold-out event will see 168 golfers tee off in the four ball competition.
Celebrity special guests include rugby star Finlay Calder, former Welsh International John Hartson and YouTube sensation, the former referee Kevin Lynch.
Howard said: “The event has grown and it wouldn’t be possible without the support and generosity of our sponsors. All 18 holes are sponsored and Myers & Bowman supply cars for the first tee.”

Andrew said: “We like to make it feel really special and thanks to Myers & Bowman we can make the first tee feel great for the golfers.”
Sponsors include Westinghouse, Amentum, Atkins, William King, NRL, Paton Scaffolding, Sellafield site trade unions and Workington Rotary.
All holes have also been sponsored by firms.
Kelly said: “And we’ve got a great prize table for the golfers this year, thanks to Whitehaven Driving Range. We’re grateful to Richard Leach, Mark Mattinson and Johnny Graham for their support.”
Howard said: “We couldn’t do it without all the organisations and sponsors, the people who donate prizes and the loyal supporters who have backed us over the years. We are truly grateful.”
