An event will be held this weekend to help address concerns about youngsters’ anti-social behaviour in Kirkby Stephen.
The event, at Westgarth Park, will be held between noon and 3pm on Saturday, May 2.
It has been organised by police and Eden Local Focus Hub and will also launch a pop-up pump track at the same location, available for free until Saturday May 9.
Rich Scoffham, Eden Local Focus Hub manager said: “This event is a chance for residents to get involved and get to know their local services, and have some fun together.
“Eden Local Focus Hub are aware of some concerns from the local community around anti-social behaviour, and, among a range of other solutions, it’s hoped this event will help improve those relationships and bring the local community together.
“This approach has been shown to be effective in other local areas, with partnership working and a strong presence in our communities being vital in addressing ASB concerns, building trust and offering support to families in a proactive and approachable way.”
The event is supported by Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team, Westmorland and Furness Council, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Kirkby Stephen Youth Centre.
Danielle Ousby, Eden Local Focus Hub co-ordinator added: “The event is free to attend, and we’d encourage all to come along to meet your your local officers.
“Alongside community events such as this, Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to carry out regular patrols in the area, especially around area identified as anti-social behaviour hotspots.”
The event has been funded by Westmorland and Furness Community Safety Partnership. The pump track has been funded by Kirkby Stephen and Tebay Place Action Group.
