A woman’s body has been found on a West Cumbrian beach.
Cumbria police said they were called at around 1.20pm today, Thursday April 30 to the shore off Workington.
Police, Coastguard rescue teams and the North West Ambulance Service vehicles were at Shore Road in Salterbeck.
It is understood the Great North Air Ambulance was initially called, but then stood down.
Traffic was stopped driving on to Shore Road and walkers prevented from using the coastal path.
Police said while the death was currently unexplained, the circumstances were not being treated as suspicious at this time.
