The RAF swooped in to help a yacht in distress off the coast of West Cumbria.
The 31ft yacht had got into difficulty near Whitehaven today, Tuesday May 5.
It had a torn sail, which was causing problems for the skipper and crew member.
It issued an emergency call and emergency services were called into action by the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre.
An RAF maritime patrol aircraft was in the area and picked up the call.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “They offered assistance and provided vital overwatch from above.
“One of our two-man patrols was already nearby and quickly arrived on scene at Whitehaven Marina.”
Workington RNLI launched its all-weather lifeboat Dorothy May White at around 4.30pm.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “With each asset contributing a vital part to the operation, the teams assessed the situation, made the vessel and crew safe and took the yacht under tow back to Whitehaven Marina.
“At the marina, Coastguard teams were waiting to assist and ensure everything was secured safely.”
