Tyler Magloire, who spent time with Workington Reds last season, has been released by Port Vale following their relegation from League One.
The 27-year-old defender was Reds manager Billy Barr’s first signing for the club when he took over from Darren Edmondson in November.
He had joined Reds after being without a club since being released by Northampton Town in the summer of 2025.
Barr suggested he could train and play with Reds, get himself into shape and in the shop window would attract interest from league clubs.
He played eight times for the Reds and shone as a classy defender.
He had a trial with a Scottish Championship club before Port Vale showed an interest through his former Northampton manager Jon Ryan.
He went with the best wishes of Barr and the Workington club and has kept in touch with them, even sending congratulations when they won at Warrington Town to save their NPL Premier Division status.
Barr had first worked with Magloire at Blackburn Rovers, as well as Isaac Whitehall who has been a Borough Park regular since he too joined up with the Cumbrians.
During his time with Port Vale, Magloire was part of their FA Cup heroics, playing in wins over Bristol City and Sunderland, and a late substitution in the defeat at Chelsea.
He had signed for Port Vale in January until the end of the season with an option for another 12 months, but is among 11 players who have been released. Four others are available for transfer.
