Although Carlisle United failed to bounce straight back into the Football League, club chairman Tom Piatek believes the season laid important foundations.
Piatek has delivered an end-of-season message to fans and stressed there is a stronger connection around the club than there was a year ago.
The future of manager Mark Hughes should be clearer, and the club’s retained list for next season, over the next few days.
In his message he said: “We are not here to stand still. The work has already started to review, improve, and make the decisions needed to move this club forward.
“Every decision will be made with one clear goal: giving Carlisle United the best possible chance to be successful and giving our supporters a team they can believe in.”
After thanking the players and staff for their hard work over an exacting season he praised the support.
He said: “One of the real highlights for us this season has been the atmosphere at Brunton Park.
“To see over 13,000 supporters inside the stadium for the play-off semi-final, and to see our supporters fill away ends up and down the country, shows what this club means to Carlisle and Cumbria. That backing does not go unnoticed. It is the heartbeat of this club.
“As an ownership group, we will do our part.
“Our commitment is strong, and that has not changed. Together, let’s build the club we all want – supporters, local businesses, partners, and the wider Cumbrian community all pulling in the same direction.
“There is no loss of belief here. There is only focus, determination, and a clear understanding of the work ahead. We move forward together.”
