Two former Workington Comers riders shone last night in a Cab Direct Championship fixture.
Defending champions Poole eased to a 54-36 win over Redcar in their league opener – despite a dominant display from visiting No.1 Nicolai Klindt.
The former Workington rider, part of the successful Comets side of 2018, raced to a six-ride 18-point maximum as he contributed exactly half of the Bears’ total on his own.
But the home side had much the better of proceedings when Klindt was not on track, securing five 5-1s in the first eight races to establish a clear lead.
The other former Workington rider Richard Lawson scored 11+1 from five rides but the standout display came from 16-year-old reserve Will Cairns, who collected 11 from four, although he suffered the setback of a blown engine after winning Heat 14.
