Organisers of this year’s Cumberland Foxhounds Pony Club May Day Open Show have hailed the event a success.
Held at Siddick, near Workington, there were over 200 entries from 38 riders and horses.
The event dates back to the 1980s and this year saw 28 club members joined by nine non-members.
There were a range of classes, including Best Turned Out, Equitation, and Novelty classes, followed by a keenly contested show jumping section.
The prestigious Turnout Championship was claimed by Gigi Walton, with Amelia Orr Clark taking the Reserve Turnout title.
In the Equitation Championship, Layla Bell rode to the top spot, with Ocean Clements awarded the Reserve title.
The Overall Points title — awarded to the competitor amassing the most points across the day’s events — went to Amelia Orr Clark.

Andrea Gray, district commissioner of Cumberland Foxhounds Pony Club, said: “It was a fantastic day and the atmosphere has been brilliant. We’re so proud to see this show going from strength to strength — long may it continue!”
Main sponsor was AW Jenkinson, which provided rosettes, sashes, and bales of shavings for the first-place show jumping winners.

Flizer Little’s business, Berrymoor Sweet Cones, provided sweetie bags for all first-place winners across the showing classes.
Shake Waffle and Roll kept everyone well fed throughout the day and the club thanked landowner Andrew Kirkbride.

The club added: “A special thank you to Dannielle Walker for taking on the no small task of judging on the day — no easy feat with so many competitors. Thanks to Emma Barrass, of Let’s Get Snappy Photography, for spending the day capturing wonderful memories for all involved.”
