A Carlisle man who admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine has been jailed for two years.

Jon Joseph Smith, 24, of Garratt Way, had previously admitted the charge and was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on Friday.

The court heard how officers raided an address in Arnison Close in Carlisle on November 6 2025.

The warrant also gave officers the right to search a Land Rover parked outside.

Smith was found inside the address and, while officers searched the property, he asked if he could put a tracksuit top on.

Officers had searched it prior to handing it over and located a small individual wrap of white powder in the pocket.

He was then arrested for being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Officers went on to search the Land Rover and recovered two plastic bags.

In the first were 67 individual half-gram wraps of a white powdery substance.

In the second, there were 100 half-gram wraps, 12 separate one-ounce wraps, and 280g of a loose bulk amount of powder.

All were subsequently confirmed via testing as high purity cocaine.

Police also recovered evidence from mobile phones of advertising drugs for sale in the local community.

Smith was sentenced to at Carlisle Crown Court to two years in prison.

A spokesman from Cumberland’s Community and Serious Organised Crime (CSOC) Unit said: “The evidence recovered showed that Smith was facilitating the supply of drugs via mobile phones and using the vehicle parked near to his home address to store the drugs.

“Messages from the mobile phone showed desperate drug users contacting him and arranging individual drug deals locally in Carlisle.

“This sentencing is just the latest result in our ongoing effort to stamp out organised crime as part of Operation Alliance.

“We remain committed to pursuing those involved supplying drugs in the county and encourage anyone with knowledge of such criminality to contact us today.”
