Kells moved to the top of National League Division One with a fine victory over previous leaders Dewsbury Celtic.
Completing a good all-round day for West Cumbria’s top three clubs, Wath Brow went fourth in the Premier Division while Egremont Rangers now lie joint third in Division One.
Kells beat Celtic 36-16, their seventh win in a row after an opening day defeat at Egremont and they now lead the Dewsbury side on points difference.
The platform for the win was established in the first half when the home side built up a 20-0 lead and although Celtic came back well it was Kells who finished strongest to comfortably wrap up the points.
Ross Gainford finished with six goals with the tries coming from Clarke Chambers (2), Sam Murtagh, Nathan Clark, Jacob Hodgson and Oscar Cook.

You can hear what coach Peter Smith thought of the performance below:
Wath Brow were frustrated by some of the on-field decisions by the officials but stuck at it to eventually see off Rochdale Mayfield 42-0 and continue their excellent run of form.

It was 16-0 at half-time and after the break the Hornets started to pull well clear as bottom of the League Mayfield had two players sin-binned.
Wath Brow’s Fran King also spent 10 minutes in the cooler.
Reuben Butterworth helped himself to a hat-trick of tries while the other touchdowns came from Andrew Bulman, Josh McConnell, Morgan McCourt, Dean Rooney and Sam Curwen, who also kicked four goals.

Coach Ian Rooney gives his thoughts below:
Egremont made hard work of their win over bottom side Oldham St Anne’s but got over the line in the end with a 32-30 victory.
They had done well enough in the first half leading 20-4 at the break but in a frustrating second half they were almost caught and just squeezed home by two points.
They had been pegged back to 20-20 at one stage and missed conversions later cost St Anne’s a share of the spoils.
Jordan Tyson (2), Jack Conway, Tom Houghton, Jenson Burney and Connor Williams scored the Egremont tries with Houghton (3) and Lachlan McDowell landing the goals.
Coach Danny Barker gives his thoughts below:
