Kendal Town’s leading goal scorer James Bailey has left Parkside Road and signed with Lancaster City of the NPL Premier Division.

The striker – who has scored 85 goals in three seasons with the Mintcakes – will be linking up again with his former Kendal manager Jimmy Marshall.

Before joining the Mintcakes in 2023, Bailey was just as prolific in the West Lancashire League for Walney Island.

Marshall said: “He is going to come in and give competition for places up front. He is a goal scorer, hard worker.

“We think he will fit into our style of play and it’s an opportunity for him to go and push himself and step up two levels, which he has done before.

“He is a great lad on and off the pitch and we know he’ll be another who will come and fit into the dressing room superbly.”

On his signing, Bailey said: “I’m more than happy to be down here at Lancaster!

“I’m glad for a new challenge and a new change of scenery and going off the back of last season, I am really excited to get stuck in!”

The striker’s arrival is the first fresh face of the summer, after Toby Oliver and Brad Kelly signed new contracts to extend their stay at the Giant Axe

Kendal Town chairman Michael O’Neill has given his thoughts on the move to Cumbria Crack which you can hear below:
