The Cumbria Men’s League kicks off tonight with two matches – before four more tomorrow.
Kells A entertain Flimby while Hensingham A are at home to Egremont A, which could be closely contested affairs.
However, like most clubs so far, the contestants tonight are experiencing injuries and won’t be able o put-out their strongest teams.
Kells first team in the National League Division One have pulled on one or two from the A team because of their own absentees and that has a knock on effect.
Visitors Flimby do have Danny Fiddler and Rhys Booty back in the squad but Karl Hine is having to put his boots on for the first time this season. Teenager Finley Steel will be playing his first senior game.
Coach Ricky Morrison said: “We have another young squad out but are up for the occasion. It’s always a good game between ourselves and Kells, played in good spirits.”
Hensingham A are in a similar situation as Kells A with calls from an injury-hit first team going to affect their team selection.
Egremont A’s Kevin Brown said: “We are looking to build on our win last week at Glasson and will be boosted by the return of Leon Crellin.”
The previous week they had been the first team to beat Wath Brow A so are in a particularly good vein of form at the moment.
Glasson Rangers will be looking to respond to last week’s defeat tomorrow in a home game against Aspatria Hornets who have been going well.
Chris Broadley, a member of the Glasson coaching team, said: “From our point of view we need to see a vast improvement frpom last week’s performance. Error after error cost us dearly.
“We need to cut them out and put on 80 minutes performance together. The injury lost has grown this week after Liam Fwerguson fractured his leg against Egremont and we are getting a little thin on the ground.
“We will stick together, though, and hopefully get the two points we desperately need. Greg Roiwley is in line to make his first appearance of the season with Tyler Beales hopefully recovering from a dead leg.”
For Aspatria Ellis Holliday is unavailable so Frazer Williamson slots in at full-back.
David Wilson starts on the wing after a couple of promising displays from the bench while Stuart Creighton returns to the bench.
Cockermouth should be on similar lines to they were in their last game for the visit of Askam.
Coach Liam McAvoy is particularly looking forward to see the development of Alfie Wright and Alex Barton who have been showin a lot of promise.
Goal-kicker Connor Saunders is among five players unavailable for Askam but Ben Jackson is available again after the football season has finished. Tom Wilkinson reverts to stand-off.
Millom A are still waiting for conformation of availabilities but will have a squad in place for their south Cumbrian derby with Dalton A.
Wath Brow Hornets A have a visit from Roose Pioneers, and having bounced straight back after their defeat to Egremont A, will be hot favourites to continue their positive response to that set-back.
Roose will be without Max Davies, Craig Deakin and Sam Doyle but they do welcome back Josh Tranter, Archie Yates, Jack Dolan and potentially Regan Livingston who has missed the last month with an ankle injury.
