
A Lake District student has won a prestigious Shakespeare competition.
Emmeline Abbot, a year seven pupil at Windermere School, has won the Abbot, who has won the North West and Wales Regional Final of the English-Speaking Union Shakespeare Competition.
Emmeline impressed professional judges with her powerful performance of the witches from Macbeth during the regional final and will now take part in the grand final at the Globe Theatre in London on June 25.
Naomi Nield, head of drama at Windermere School said: “The judges commented on Emme’s impressive physicality and her ability to use silence alongside dialogue for impact.
“The standard was very high, and we are thrilled Emme has this unique opportunity to perform at the Globe.”
