A Cockermouth bar is on the market for £800,000.

The Castle Bar in Market Place is being marketed by Christie & Co.

Dating back to the 16th century, The Castle Bar is a Grade II-listed property.

Following an extensive refurbishment project, where the current owners transformed the building, the pub secured the prestigious CAMRA Pub Design Award in 2009.

Over three floors, the property has a lounge bar, sports bar, and three function rooms, providing seating for up to 190 customers.

It features exposed stonework, feature fireplaces and beamed ceilings and it has a large, three-tiered south-facing beer garden.

The sale process is being managed by Keith Stringer and Marslie McGregor at Christie & Co.

They said: “The Castle Bar is a standout wet-led freehold opportunity in one of Cumbria’s most attractive market towns.

“It combines historic character with excellent trading performance and has clearly been cared for and invested in by the current owners.

“With multiple trading areas, strong local and tourist demand, and a proven track record, it will appeal to experienced operators and lifestyle buyers alike.”
