Cockermouth’s Castlegate Singers have been making sweet music as part of efforts to raise funds for an additional aircraft for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
The all-female choir recently handed over £400 to appeal from a raffle they held at their concert at the end of last year.
The donation was accepted on behalf of the charity by community fundraiser Deborah Usher.
The charity already has two helicopters operating across the North of England but is currently trying to raise £2.5 million to buy a third.
The charity says the other two aircraft are nearing the end of their operational life and a new helicopter is vital if their work is to continue. The long term plan is to have three new craft.
Win Cornwall, of Castlegate Singers, said: “We are very a much a choir of the community and for the community.
“We perform at events including Cockermouth Live! and the annual Bluebell Service at Rannerdale. We are also very keen to support local charities like GNAAS in their vital work.”
The choir’s summer concert will be on Saturday July 11 at 7.30pm at Christ Church in Cockermouth.
They will perform a wide selection of music led by their conductor, Anne-Marie Kerr, and accompanied by Fiona Weakley.
