Armed police were called out to an incident in Ulverston.
Officers were called to an address at The Gill yesterday, Sunday May 31, at around 2.55pm after a report of an assault.
The force said on arrival, officers were made aware of two people who had secured themselves inside the property with a weapon.
Firearms officers were deployed to the incident due to the nature of the report.
Cumbria police added: “A cordon was put in place and a number of residents in the immediate area were evacuated to ensure officers could operate safely.”
Officers gained entry to the property at around 7.35pm.
A man and woman were arrested and were currently in police custody last night.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police thanked the public for their patience while the incident was ongoing.
