Barrow’s new manager Adam Murray has made former Hartlepool striker Alex Reid his first signing for the club.
The 30-year-old was Pool’s top scorer last season with 12 goals in 40 games.
But he was among 16 players released by the North East club after they failed to reach the National League play-offs.
Birmingham-born Reid spent his youth career with Aston Villa and Walsall before learning his non-league trade at Solihull Moors and Rushall Olympic.
Although he joined Fleetwood in 2017 he never played a senior game, instead spending time on loan back at Solihull and Wrexham.
He joined Stevenage in 2018 but only played 11 times, again being loaned out to Fylde, Ebbsfleet and Dagenham and Redbridge.
His best run came when he joined Stockport County in 2020 where he scored 18 goals in 54 appearances.
He spent another two seasons with Oldham (nine goals in 35 games) before a switch to Wealdstone for loan spells produced 16 goals in 30 games.
He joined Hartlepool last season where he was a virtual ever-present for his 12 goals.
Murray told Barrow fans: “To go out there and get someone of Reidy’s stature, a proven goalscorer at this level – we’re buzzing to get him in the building and he’s excited to get going and meet the rest of the lads.”
The move, on a two-year deal, is subject to National League and FA approval.
