The Great Cumbrian Run has a new sponsor and a new name.
Thanks to the new partnership, the half marathon will be renamed The Cumbria Waste Group Great Cumbrian Run.
It takes place on October 4 in Carlisle and is expected to attract thousands of participants and spectators.
The event also features the Cumbrian Run 5K and 10k and a Family Fun Run.
Cumbria Waste Group said it would play an active role in helping to deliver a successful and environmentally responsible event.
The company said it would support waste management and recycling efforts at the event, ensuring that the run aligns with best practices in sustainability and minimises its environmental impact.
Debbie Huddart, area sales manager at Cumbria Waste Group, said: “We’re incredibly proud to support The Great Cumbria Run this year and to see it become The Cumbria Waste Group Great Cumbrian Run.
“This event represents everything we value: community spirit, wellbeing, and environmental responsibility. We’re excited to be part of an occasion that brings people together while also championing sustainable practices.”
Matthew Graham, GLL’s health co-ordinator, added: “GLL is delighted to be working in partnership with Cumbria Waste Group.
“Their commitment to sustainability and community wellbeing makes them an ideal partner for this year’s race.
“Renaming the event to The Cumbria Waste Group Great Cumbrian Run reflects a shared vision, not only to deliver an outstanding service for the community, but to do so in a way that respects the planet and is forward-thinking.
“Together, we’re looking forward to creating an event that the whole community can be proud of.”
