Wath Brow Hornets produced their best performance of the season in the National League’s Premier Division.
The Hornets moved fourth in the table with an excellent 32-4 home win against a good Thatto Heath side.
The victory enabled the Hornets to leapfrog their opponents to set up a tasty trip to Waterhead Warriors on Saturday – the team a point above them in the table.
This latest win stretched Hornets run to four without defeat had built an 18-0 lead by half-time.
They were 30-0 ahead before Thatto Heath troubled the scoreboard operator, but it was Sam Curwen who completed the scoring with a late penalty.
Curwen had previously converted tries by himself, Dean Rooney, Nat Doogan, Conor Molyneaux and Dean Pattinson.

Peter Smith’s side led 22-4 at half-time and completely dominated the second-half and finished the game with 11 tries.

There were hat-tricks for Dan Grears and Clarke Chambers while Jacob Hodgson, Karl Garner, Ryan Starkie, Lewis Smith and Oscar Cook completed the touchdowns.
Ross Gainford converted nine of the tries.

Peter Smith gives his thoughts on the game below:
Egremont Rangers, missing a number of senior players, battled well at third in the table Dewsbury Moor Maroons before running out of steam.
They were all square at the break, sharing three tries apiece with their hosts, and were still level approaching the hour mark.

But two quick tries by the Maroons set them on their way and they finished 52-18 winners.
Connor Williams helped himself to a first half hat-trick with all three tries being converted by Joe Lewis.

Egremont have several players missing with injury and unfortunately had Lachlan McDowell added to the list when he had to be taken off with a knee injury.
