Keswick have announced that a former player is returning to the club and joining the coaching staff.
Mark Ireland will be part of Garry Holmes’ coaching team.
Glen Weightman had been a member of the coaching back-up to Holmes but has recently joined Aspatria as head coach.
Ireland said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the coaching team at Keswick and can’t wait to get started.
“It’s a fantastic club full of great people and a place that holds so many memories for me, having started my rugby union journey here.
“To be offered the opportunity, after all these years, to give back and contribute to the club’s continued success is incredibly special and very exciting.”
Holmes added: “I am delighted to welcome Mark into the coaching team. We were team-mates during his three seasons at Kendal, and we’ve stayed in touch ever since.
“Mark brings a wealth of experience from his time playing in National 2, where he became the division’s all-time leading points scorer with more than 2,500 points.
“We’re confident his energy and deep knowledge of the game will be invaluable in supporting our young backs as they continue to develop and grow.”
Ireland spent 10 years with Sheffield Tigers where he achieved legendary status at the club, with over 200 appearances and latterly club captain – scoring more National League points than any other Sheffield player.
