Carlisle manager Rob Elliot has made Miguel Azeez his first summer signing.
A 23-year-old midfielder Azeez has joined the Cumbrians from Morecambe on a two-year deal.
London-born Azeez came through at Arsenal, progressing from academy to senior level, and was with the Gunners from age five until he was 20.
He never made a senior appearance but experience on loan at Portsmouth, Ibiza and Wigan Athletic.
When released by Arsenal he joined Atletico Baleares in Spain and then PAS Giannina in Greece, but made his breakthrough last season when he joined Morecambe.
He was a virtual ever-present for the struggling Shrimps scoring five goals in 40 National League games.
He says the opportunity to work with head coach Elliot was a draw after an initial positive conversation encouraged the move to Cumbria.
He told the Carlisle United website: “When I spoke to Rob, he made me feel at home and the plans that he has for me and my role in the team, which gave me a lot of confidence.
“I feel like with a manager like that, I can really show my best football, which is exciting.”
