Whitehaven travel to face Sheffield

Whitehaven look to be on similar lines to last week when they travel to Sheffield on Sunday for their latest Championship clash.

James Newton’s side ran up 80 points in recording their third successive win, as North Wales Crusaders followed in the wake of Keighley and Midlands Hurricanes.

But it will certainly be a lot tougher at Sheffield who ran high fliers Barrow Raiders very close last week in South Cumbria.

Haven will be without their on-loan Raider Seth Woodend and Newton will take the 20 who were originally selected for the Crusaders game.

Ellis Nixon will be playing his final game before starting a five match suspension which won’t see him free to play in the final home game on August 16 against Dewsbury.

Nixon was charged with Grade F punching against North Wales Crusaders, which earned him the five-match ban.

Sheffield make just one change to their 21 with Jamie Cooke coming in to replace Marcus Green who has gone on a week’s loan to Keighley Cougars.

The Eagles are still without Harry Bowes who serves the second and final match of his suspension.
