
A Lake District walker was airlifted to hospital after falling 12m, sustaining serious injuries.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Thursday at around 1pm to Gowbarrow fell.
The walker had fallen while on the summit.
The team said, due to the nature of the injuries, the Great North Air Ambulance and a Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter were both requested.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team said: “The team doctor reached the casualty first and with assistance from team remote rescue medical technicians, assessed and began to treat the casualty.
“The casualty was winched from scene by the Coastguard and then transferred into the air ambulance for onward travel to a major trauma unit.”
Two days earlier, on Wednesday June 17, the team was called out at around 2.30pm after another walker had fallen between 10m and 20m on to rocks.
They had sustained a large cut to their head and had possible injuries to their ribs and elbow.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team said: “Due to the nature of the incident and injuries a request for assistance from a Coastguard helicopter was made.
“Team members made their way on foot up Boredale Hause to the scene arriving alongside the Coastguard, who had flown from their base at Carlisle Lake District Airport.
“The casaulty was examined and slowly walked to the aircraft with some help where they were flown to Carlisle for further treatment.”
