Workington Comets team manager James Denham knows that his side gifted Glasgow Tigers their win at Northside through a terrible start to the meeting.
The Comets team boss said: “We handed the victory to them on a gold plate, and that’s not what we were intending to do.
“It wasn’t an acceptable result and everyone knows where they went wrong, as every rider didn’t fire early on.
“Taking the positives we saw some great racing again in the second half of the meeting.
“Troy Batchelor and Chris Harris rolled back the years and once again Tate Zischke was fantastic, I was amazed to find out he hadn’t won a race before heat 15.
“It wasn’t the debut that Drew Kemp intended and he’s a-bit dejected about it, but we know what he’s capable of and I’m sure he will come back firing once he gets his setups dialled in around here.
“We have a few weeks break now to regroup and go again, and some of our lads are riding here next week in the Jay Cartmell Memorial.
“It’s going to be a special day with some exciting riders coming over from the continent who we will keep a close eye on. It will be interesting as these lads could be future Comets.”
Meanwhile, Workington Meteors, who are sponsored by Alwell Glass, were in Northern Junior League action on Saturday and lost to Ashfield Giants 16-20.
Impressive youngster George Climo scored a maximum for the Meteors while Laylen Richardson bagged a confidence boosting win in the first heat.
