Cumbria and Cheshire have been regular opponents this season and on Sunday will meet for the fourth time in seven weekends.
Arguably this is the most important of them all as they clash at Keswick in the semi-final of the 50 overs-NCCA NVPlay Trophy.
At Keswick just over a month ago Cumbria beat Cheshire in the final round of the group stages of the competition after both sides had already been confirmed as progressing to the knock out stages.
Winning that match meant that Cumbria would be at home for both the quarter and as winners of the latter also in the semi-final.
Last weekend the two counties met at Nantwich in the Group stages of the NCCA T20 Cup with each side picking up a win.
In the meantime both sides had won their quarter final, and with a need for the NCCA to ensure national travel is restricted as much as possible, they now face each other again in the Semi Final.
On offer is a place in the final against the winner of the “Southern” semi final between Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
Michael Slack, Drew Postlethwaite, Calum Rowe, Ben Walkden and Nico Watt all return to the Cumbria side after missing last weekend’s trip to Nantwich.
By naming a side with 10 of the 11 selected playing for clubs within their county cricket league’s Premier or First Division Cheshire’s selection demonstrates the strength of the clubs within their county league and which, as usual is full of bit hitters and includes four past or present Lancashire Academy players.
- Cumbria: Michael Slack (Carlisle) capt., Louis Backhouse (Kendal), Freddie Fallows (Kendal), Tom Fraine (Clifton Alliance), Drew Postlethwaite (Barrow) wk, Calum Rowe (Carlisle), Matthew Sempill (Cockermouth), Ed Wade (Clifton Alliance), Ben Walkden (Newton-le-Willows), Nico Watt (Carlisle), Max Winskill (Shaw).
- Cheshire: Sam Perry (Alderley Edge) capt., Isaac Brooks (Lindow), Harry Dearden (Woodbank), Henry Dobson (Oxton), Andy Jackson (Hyde), Henry Murray (Toft) wk, Dan Newton (Lindow), Gennaro Reddy (Alderley Edge), Will Street (Didsbury), Will Valentine (Alderley Edge), Freddie Vaughan-Hawkins (Timperley).
Head to Head in the One Day Trophy since 1984 Cheshire lead 14-6 with three games lost to the weather.
The 50 over a-side match will start at 11am, weather permitting, and will be livestreamed on the county’s Youtube channel.
