Cleator may not be the power they once were but the proud village club has many memories to look back on.
Village Cup winners in 2013 on an unforgettable day at Lord’s that was clearly the highlight in the club’s long history.
Ian Clark has played a major role on the field for the club for over 50 years and two of his sons, Jordan and Graham started there before finding their niche in the County Championship.

Elder brother Darren was perhaps a little unlucky that he wasn’t spotted and given a chance with a county side, but he has been a leading performer for Cleator over a number of years.
Dad Ian is now available only when the first team is desperately short, but a far cry from the halcyon days bossing the Cumberland Senior League and later winning the Village Cup, as that has happened more than he would have liked.

Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh caught up with Ian to talk all things Cleator cricket and revive some of the memories of the club’s glory days. You can hear the chat below:
Cumbria Cricket League Premier Division might be at an exciting stage but it takes a back seat this week.
The league’s T20 competition dominates tomorrow’s programme with groups being staged in the south, west and north of the county.
In the south the Furness club will stage three games – Furness v Dalton at 11am; Millom v Dalton at 2pm and Furness v Millom at 5pm.
Workington’s Valentine Ground wlll host the west group and the order of play is Workington v Whitehaven at 11am; Whitehaven v Cleator at 2pm and Workington v Cleator at 5pm.
With four teams involved inn the north group at Keswick the formula is different but still three games – two semi-finals and a final.
It’s Keswick v Carlisle at 11am; Cockermouth v Wigton at 2pm and the winners meet in the final at 5pm.
