A Cumbrian housebuilder has welcomed school pupils to one of its housing developments for a morning of learning and community involvement.
Pupils from St Paul’s Junior School in Seaton visited the Derwent Rise development, which is run by Penrith-based Genesis Homes.
The group was given a guided tour of homes under construction, explored different trades and heard about how machinery was used on the site.
The importance of site safety was highlighted to the pupils, who also looked inside the recently opened show homes.
The children planted flowers in the show home garden to leave their own mark on the development.
Genesis Homes said it hoped the visit would mark the beginning of a long-term partnership with St Paul’s Junior School.

The company said it aimed to support local young people and strengthen connections with the Seaton community through future classroom sessions, site visits, donated materials and educational activities.
Lauren Allison, head of communities and engagement, said: “At Genesis Homes, we don’t simply build houses, we create places where people can put down roots, make memories and feel part of a community.
“That’s why it’s so important that we involve local people throughout the journey, especially young people who are the future of communities like Seaton.
“Seeing the children’s excitement as they explored the development and even helped shape a small part of it was incredibly rewarding.
“We hope this is just the start of a lasting relationship with St Paul’s Junior School as Derwent Rise grows into a thriving new neighbourhood.”
