Barrow boss Adam Murray says he learnt a bit more about his team after the 0-0 mid-week draw at Radcliffe.
The National North side soaked up a lot of pressure as Barrow saw a lot of the ball and did have two goals disallowed.
Murray said: “It was a real game of football, very physical, and they gave us different challenges to what we’ve dealt with so far in pre-season.
“We spent a lot of time during the game with the ball, which gave us a clear indication of the areas we need to improve on in possession.
“Our intensity and work rate were excellent throughout. We had two goals disallowed that, looking back at the footage, were perfectly okay.
“It was good to see a strong mentality and a willingness to keep pushing.
“Even in pre-season, we want the mentality of, ‘If we can’t win, we don’t get beat.’ There were lots of things we were really pleased with and some good lessons learnt overall from the game.”
The Bluebirds entertain Blackpool tomorrow and the following Saturday travel to Morecambe before opening the new National League season on August 8 at Hartlepool.
