[A] MAN has heard he could be jailed for child sex and child abuse image offending.

Malcolm Porter, 24, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today (MON) to face 15 separate charges.

During a short hearing before Judge Peter Davies, Porter admitted one offence of attempting to cause a child aged under 16 to engage in sexual activity, on September 20, 2015.

Porter also pleaded guilty to five counts of distributing indecent photographs of a child, and nine charges of making an indecent photograph of a child. Some of the images are classed in category A – the most serious.

Computer equipment is said to have been seized from Porter when he was arrested at a Carlisle address.

Judge Davies adjourned the case for background information to be prepared. Porter, of Burnside, Eddleston, will be sentenced on July 6 and was bailed in the meantime.

However, the judge told him all options, including prison, would be open on that date.
