[A] MAN facing allegations that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl has told a jury her accusations are “not true”.
Liviu-flavius Maduta, 31, is on trial at Carlisle Crown Court having pleaded not guilty to six charges.
Three of these allege that he caused or incited a child to engage in sexual activity; a further three charges allege sexual activity with a child aged under 16.
Jurors have heard the girl at the centre of the case claim that the alleged illegal activity occurred during 2016.
But, giving evidence today (WED), Maduta, of Rosthwaite, near Keswick, stated emphatically that the allegations were “not true”.
“I feel like I am the victim here,” he said from the witness box. “I never touched her. I didn’t sexually abuse her.”
Maduta, a man who has never been in trouble with the police before, added: “I didn’t lay my hand on her.”
The trial continues.
