Two trapped in A66 crash near Kirkby Thore

[T]wo people have been trapped after a two-vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the A66 near Kirkby Thore.

Police were called today (11th July) at 1.25pm.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 13:27 firefighters were called to a road traffic collision with persons trapped on the A66 at Kirkby Thore.

“The crews from Penrith and Appleby found two vehicles and two persons trapped.

“Cutting equipment was used to release the casualties into the care of ambulance staff.”

Two air ambulances attended the scene.

The A66 was closed between Kirkby Thore and Appleby but has now reopened.
