Skerryvore

[S]cottish Traditional Music Live Act of the Year 2016, ‘Skerryvore,’ The exhilarating Celtic Rockers, return to England for the Autumn 2017 leg of their biannual tours of England and Wales. The band tour worldwide, with European dates and 2 separate tours in the US in 2017. They are eager to bring their unique sound to new audiences, as well as making welcome returns to familiar venues.

The band started as a four piece with their roots on the tiny Hebridean island of Tiree. Fraser and Alec Dalglish, who are both from Livingston in West Lothian met Tiree brothers Daniel & Martin Gillespie while on holiday there. They take their name from ‘Skerryvore,’ the tallest lighthouse in UK which lies 12 miles south-west of the island of Tiree.

All 8 members bring their own musical style to the Skerryvore mix. The more they have experimented with this mix, the more the band and their signature sound has evolved. Their earlier work was ‘West Coast Ceilidh’ inspired, with Celtic influences which have remained present in all their work.

As the band have developed, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Cajun and country influences have all emerged, but the traditional Celtic roots and instrumentation have remained.

“People can expect to hear a mix of material from all of our previous albums as well as some of the new unheard material which will appear on our upcoming album. As always we strive to create a party atmosphere and love to get the audience involved as much as possible”. Alec Dalglish.

“Skerryvore delivered the sort of set designed to keep the audience on their feet for the next 90 minutes or so, which they did. They are a first rate live band”. Allan Wilkinson Northern Sky

Described by BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliff as ‘The sound of young Scots power folk,’ Skerryvore will enthral audiences with their musicianship, typically delivered in their high energy performances.
