[A] fire that broke out in Clay Flatts Trading Estate is now under control.

Police officers have stood down from the scene as the emergency response has been scaled back.

Firefighters have put out the blaze, there is not believed to be any danger from gas canisters and there is no perceived threat to the public.

Those that were evacuated from nearby properties have been allowed to return.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews fought the fire using a ground monitor, a main jet and a hose reel jet.

“Two fire engines from Workington and one from Maryport attended the incident.”

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The A597 has now been re-opened.
