[F]rom The Fields, the organisation behind the perennially popular festival Kendal Calling have teamed up with Lowther Castle to create a tantalising series of experiences this coming winter.

With a focus on great music, delicious food, engaging art and culture, ale and gin bar and a cinema, Night at the Castle presents a unique night out at a truly spectacular location.

These events will cover Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas.

“Thriller” – a frightful Halloween special at a truly spooky location – will take place on Friday 27th October, 5pm – midnight.

Prepare to be thrilled and chilled throughout the ruins of Lowther Castle itself and within its spooky woodlands as part of the ghostly ‘Scare Trail’. Children of all ages can enjoy weaving through the creepy woodland walk until 8pm when things turn dark and ghoulish for those 14+. The woods morph into a trail of horror with the unexpected lurking behind every twist and turn.

Families can also get involved with the bone-chilling festivities with our fang-tastic fancy dress and best pumpkin competitions, all sound tracked by haunting Halloween hits, soul, Motown, disco, 30-piece drumming band Batala Lancaster and more live music to get the eerie party going. Kids and adults alike can enjoy the ‘Punch & Judy’ meets ‘Hollywood’ Pop-Up Puppet Cinema performing adaptations of your favourite movies, lovingly mocked and condensed into live puppet performances, bringing a frightfully humorous element to the evening.

With fearsome fire acts, ethereal and chilling walkabouts, plus an early evening showing of family favourite ‘Ghostbusters’ and a late screening of the classic 1976 American horror ‘The Omen’, this is one hauntingly beautiful Halloween celebration you’ll not want to miss. It really will be full of hair-raising experiences!

On the 4th November “Fire and Feasting” brings a reimagining of Bonfire Night*: flickering fires, sizzling street food and a fireworks spectacular – all from within the breathtaking and atmospheric setting of Lowther Castle.

“Under The Stars”, on the 8th, 9th,15th & 16th December*, will deliver a delightful dollop of Christmas spirit. Dance, eat, drink and be merry with a wide range of hearty winter food offerings, stunning illuminations, market stalls, bands and DJs, plus a special guest will be making an appearance! Once again, the setting will be the grounds of Lowther Castle.

The curation of the new Night at the Castle series by the From The Fields team builds on their already reputable and successful portfolio in laying on unforgettable experiences: Kendal Calling, bluedot festival, Off The Record, Electric Fields & Live At Jodrell Bank.

All performances and events during Lowther Castle’s winter programme will be suitable for all ages. Bring the whole family and make sure you book early. Travel there and back from Penrith and other surrounding locations with return coaches or stay over and enjoy the family fun with limited live-in vehicle tickets.
