[F]ootway improvement works are scheduled to be carried out on Botchergate in Carlisle in phased sections of approximately 30 metres at a time.  Each section will be fully re-opened after each shift from Cumbria House to Arkale Lodge.

The works will involve the replacement of existing worn out paving, and the addition of pedestrian bollards to enhance safety. The works are programmed to commence on the evening of 8 October and are expected to take up to 4 weeks to complete.

In order to carry out the works it will be necessary to close the footway. The works will begin at approximately 7pm each night and planned to be complete by 5am each morning. Should anyone require access during these times, please liaise with the site staff who will arrange an escort once it is safe to do so.

The council is grateful for the patience and co-operation of the local community whilst we carry out these essential improvement works.

If anyone would like to discuss this matter, please contact Cumbria Highways on 0300 303 2992.
