Multiple crashes cause M6 delays

[T]here have been a number of incidents on the M6 this morning which are causing traffic issues.

Two are lanes closed and queueing traffic due to cattle on road following a road traffic collision – two lorries involved on M6 northbound between J39 B6261 (Shap) and J40 A66 (Penrith). Delays of 15 minutes.

An HGV travelling northbound has collided with the rear of a Land Rover towing a trailer containing cattle.

A Transit van towing a trailer containing sheep was travelling immediately behind and has overturned in its efforts to avoid the collision.
It is not believed anyone was injured.

Also one lane is closed due to a collision, one vehicle involved on M6 southbound between J36 A590 (Kirkby Lonsdale) and J35 A601(M) Carnforth. Traffic is coping well.

One lane was closed due to a broken down vehicle on the M6 southbound between J43 A69 (Carlisle) and J42 A6 / B6263 (Carlisle South). Vehicle has now been recovered.
