[T]hree overseas doctors have joined the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as part of a medical fellowship programme to help strengthen the service.
Dr Joyita Sinha, Dr Vinayak Koparde and Dr Sandeep Motichand all qualified psychiatrists join the Trust with an extensive range of experience between them including vast knowledge and experience of working within child and adolescent psychiatry.
One of the International Doctors, Dr Vinayak Koparde said: “I’m really looking forward to working in the CAMHS team and making sure children and their families get the right help and support at the right time. I have a specialist interest in autism, adolescent emotional disorders and learning disabilities and I hope to make a big difference within the service.”
Dr Raj Verma, Associate Medical Director at CPFT said: “We are delighted these three doctors have joined our CAMHS service and look forward to seeing the huge difference they will make. All of them join us with much experience after working as child and adolescent psychiatrists internationally and I’m sure their expertise will be extremely beneficial for patients and other staff.
“They are currently undertaking a three month induction of the NHS to familiarise themselves with how the service works and have also been holding clinics for children and young people in Cumbria who require CAMHS support.”
Dr Joyita Sinha, international doctor said: “I chose to move to Cumbria not only because it’s a beautiful county but also to make a difference to children and young people with mental health problems. Joining CAMHS has provided me with an exciting new opportunity that I can get involved in and I also get the chance to develop my own skills both clinically and academically.”
Dr Sandeep Motichand, international doctor said: “I’m looking forward to teaming up with professionals from other specialities and to enhance my current knowledge and understanding in this area by working with some of the most enormously experienced doctors in CAMHS. I want to put all my knowledge and skills into the people seeking the services from CAMHS and achieve my goal of providing the best support.”
The fellowship scheme the doctors are part of offers an opportunity for experienced international clinicians to come to the UK to enhance their skills in a speciality of their choice; in this case it is child and adolescent psychiatry. The doctor’s main focus will be to see children and young people in the CAMHS service to provide the most appropriate mental health support required. A further part of the scheme will involve academic study.
