Principal Stephen Gilby

[R]ichard Rose Sixth Form at Central Academy has topped the county league tables for student progress.

Richard Rose Sixth Form achieved a score of 0.35 for ‘A’ Level performance which is well above average and places it at the top of the league table for Cumbria. Richard Rose Sixth Form also achieved above average progress scores for other academic qualifications and Tech level performance.

Stephen Gilby, Principal at Central Academy said:
“This is fantastic news for the Academy, and more importantly our students. To be the top performing sixth form is testimony to all the hard work of our students and staff. Really getting to know our students and supporting them to achieve the best they can is a significant strength at Richard Rose Sixth Form. Well done.”

The figures indicate how much progress students who studied A levels at this school or college made between the end of key stage 4 and the end of their A level studies, compared to similar students across England.

The scores are calculated by comparing the A-level results of students at this school or college with the A level results of students in schools and colleges across England who started with similar results at the end of the previous key stage – key stage 4.

A score above zero means students made more progress, on average, than students across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 4.
