[A] man appeared at the Magistrates Court in Carlisle by video-link from prison charged with two allegations of rape and two allegations of indecent assault on a woman.
Paul James Edward Beattie, 52, previously of Howard Place, Carlisle spoke briefly during the 5-minute hearing to confirm his personal details.
Court papers show that one-allegation of rape took place between March 1 and September 30, 1986, the second rape allegation on July 28, 1986 in Carlisle, the two alleged indecent assaults took place between February 1 and September 30, 1986, the second alleged indecent assault took place between March 1 and September 30, 1986.
No plea was entered and he was remanded in custody, he will next appear at Carlisle Crown Court on March 12.
