[D]ue to continuing adverse weather there will be no refuse and recycling collections (including garden waste) or bulky waste collections on Friday 2 March.

To allow Carlisle City Council to catch up on missed refuse collections, there will be no garden waste collections between Monday 5 and Friday 9 March.

Missed refuse collections (Wednesday 28 February – Friday 2 March) will be collected on the following days:

  • Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 March –  collection of refuse missed on Wednesday 28 February.
  • Tuesday 6, Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 March – collection of refuse missed on Thursday 1 March.
  • Thursday 8 and Friday 9 March – collection of refuse missed on Friday 2 March.

Residents who had a scheduled gull sack collection on Wednesday 28 February, Thursday 1 or Friday 2 March with have their refuse collected on their next scheduled collection date.

For those affected by a missed collection, the council will collect a reasonable amount of additional side waste.

As they are prioritising the collection of refuse, they will not be able to collect any missed recycling between Wednesday 28 February – Friday 2 March. This will be collected as part of your next scheduled collection date. Alternatively, please take any plastics, cardboard, tins, cans, paper and glass to a recycling site. A list of available sites is at www.carlisle.gov.uk/refuseandrecycling

Please do not put recycling in your household bin.

A Carlisle City Council spokesman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we ask for your support and patience as our staff work to get our service back to business as soon as possible.

“Weather permitting, if you have a scheduled refuse/recycling collection week commencing Monday 5 March, this should be collected as normal. Garden Waste collections should continue as normal from week commencing Monday 12 March.”

If you have any queries, please email Carlisle City Council at [email protected]
