[A]n investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in broad daylight.

Around 3.20pm on Friday 9 March 2018, police were called to reports that a man was unconscious and not breathing on Waterloo Street, Oldham near to Charters Jewellers.

Officers attended and discovered a man, believed to be in his 20s, with multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Extra officers will be in the area this evening should anyone have any information or wish to speak to them.

GMP’s Detective Superintendent Nicky Porter, said: “My heart goes out to the man’s family who have sadly had to be informed that their loved one has died.

“As the investigation develops, we hope to be able to provide further details but as this only happened recently, we’re yet to gain a full picture of what exactly has happened and ask the public to come forward with any information.”

Anyone with information should contact GMP on 101 quoting reference number 1293 of 09/03/18 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
