[P]embrokeshire Tourism has selected international travel blogger and digital influencer Zoë Dawes, The Quirky Traveller, to host their awards ceremony which takes place in Wales on April 21st. Carnforth-based Zoe is a well-known local figure, often commenting and writing about Cumbria, The Lake District and Lancashire. However, Zoe’s reputation outside of this region is even greater. The only UK representative chosen for a recent international Press Trip to Thailand, The Quirky Traveller commands a digital audience of over 300,000 and has won numerous awards for her travel writing.
Social media has completely changed the face of travel and research shows that many bloggers, writers and social media accounts have the power to influence our buying decisions. This power has not gone unnoticed and is something travel and tourism businesses are increasingly looking to tap into.
Dennis O’Connor, Tourism Liaison Manager of Pembrokeshire Tourism Board says of his decision to choose Zoë to host their awards and also deliver training on Blogging and Travel Writing.
“Pembrokeshire is a very popular holiday destination for thousands of visitors each year and destination marketing and responsible management is hugely important. We look forward to working with Zoe and to showcasing the wonderfully diverse county in which we are fortunate to live and work. We hope that when she leaves she will be inspired by what we have to offer visitors.”
Zoe said “I am very lucky that I do what I love for a living. Travel is my passion. Whether it be to India or Inverness, there is always something unusual or intriguing to discover and share. I am thrilled to have been asked to host the Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards, I understand how important the tourism industry is to Britain’s economy. The wonderful job the tourism industry does, has truly cemented the UK’s reputation as a quality global destination. Wales is an inspiring country with a huge amount to offer both Uk and international visitors. I am really looking forward to visiting Pembrokeshire again and to celebrate their tourism achievements in April.”
Previously Zoe was a judge for Cumbria Family Business Awards, Lancashire Tourism Awards and a panellist at Taste Lancashire 2017.
