[T]he Cumberland FA has announced the format for this season’s Charter Standard Festival, which takes place at Frenchfield Sports Centre in Penrith on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 June 2018.

This year, Cumberland FA has seen major growth of the foundation phase within its local clubs – and an impressive total of 265 teams will be competing at this season’s event.

FESTIVAL FORMAT

Saturday 2 June

  • U8 Mixed (5v5)
  • U10 Mixed (7v7)
  • U11 Mixed (7v7)
  • Pan Disability

Sunday 3 June

  • U7 Mixed (5v5)
  • U9 Mixed (7v7)
  • U8 Girls (5v5)
  • U10 Girls (7v7)
  • U12 Girls (7v7)
  • U14 Girls (7v7)

James Reid, Cumberland FA Football Development Officer, said: “We have seen major growth in the foundation phase within clubs, which is really pleasing to see as this is the foundation for our game moving into the future. This, however, presents a huge challenge for us to try and fit everyone into one weekend of football.

“This growth shows that clubs in Cumberland are really striving to offer opportunities to large numbers of players at the entry point of the Festival. We offer this Festival as a thank you to the clubs for their continued support of the Charter Standard programme throughout the season, which this year will see over 2750 players in one venue over one weekend in a friendly environment where fun is at the centre of both days.”
