[A]n afternoon of live music and entertainment will take place across Workington on Saturday 12 May. ‘Decades’ will see pubs throughout the town play host to a number of both well-known and local bands from 3pm onwards.
Performances from bands including Melody Maker, Glamrockz and The McCoys, plus many more will hit the stage and circulate around the town,
Soul Junction will be playing at Padua’s from 11pm.
The event, which has been organised by Allerdale Borough Council in partnership with Maryport Blues Festival, aims to keep people in the town on the Saturday and bring people in from outside the area to help support the local night time economy.
Councillor Mark Fryer, Executive Member for economic growth, said: “We wanted to create an event that can be enjoyed by a number of different people, while giving a boost to the local night time economy. Decades will provide some fantastic nostalgia with a mixture of classic music from some brilliant bands. It’s great to see so many local businesses on board and we hope to see people from across the county come along and join in the fun.”
Entry to all the performances will be free and fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes available.
