L-R: Carol Sharman and Rachael Little, both Health Care Assistants at Eden Valley Hospice, completed 20 laps of Talkin Tarn for their fundraising idea called Laps For Loved Ones in 2017

[T]his summer fundraisers will be talking around a local beauty sport on Saturday 30 June to help the care, support and activities provided at a local charity.

Laps for Loved Ones is a walk around Talkin Tarn as fundraisers completed laps for loved ones. Eden Valley Hospice is now encouraging the local community to join a host of fellow fundraisers on the day and complete a lap for a love one.

Sam Johnston, Community and Events Fundraiser at Eden Valley Hospice, “After the huge success of last’s year’s event, which raised over £4000, we are thrilled to be hosting it again. It is an important event for us not only because of the money raised but also the awareness it creates about the care and support we provide. It is a relaxed and welcoming day for everyone, not just those with connections to the Hospice, and enjoying the scenery around the tarn makes it even more special.”

A loved one does not need to have been cared for by Eden Valley Hospice to be remembered on the day. You can remember anybody close to your heart by completing a lap of the local beauty spot.

The money raised by all of the fundraisers joining them on the day will help Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw to provide the highest standards of care, support and activities to local adults and children with life limiting illnesses. This care and compassion is extended to all of the patients’ families, friends and carers.

Year on year it costs Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw £3.7million to provide care, support and activities to local people. Approximately 28% of the funding is received from the NHS with the remaining £2.7million raised by the kindness, support and generosity of the local community.

If you would like to join the fundraisers during their Laps for Loves Ones walk around Talkin Tarn Saturday 30th June, please register on the Eden Valley Hospice Website. The registration fee is £10 for adults and £5 for children.
