Carlisle Crown Court

[T]HE father of a Carlisle man accused of allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend has told a jury he was not aware of any violence involving his son.

Nathan Aaron Bell, 27, is on trial at the city’s crown court. He denies three alleged assaults on his former partner, Jodie Liddell, and further denies three alleged breaches of a restraining order put in place to prevent him contacting her.

Two of the three alleged assaults – in August and September last year – are said by Miss Liddell to have taken place at Bell’s family home in the Raffles area of Carlisle – at least one, she claims, when his father was at home.

But giving evidence today (THURS), Michael Bell said Miss Liddell was “banned” and “not welcome” at the family’s address during that period.

“Were you ever aware of there being any physical behaviour between Jodie Liddell and your son in August or September last year?” asked Nathan Bell’s barrister, Rachel Faux.

Mr Bell replied: “No.”

The trial continues.
