Middle Eden Voices choir is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a concert on Saturday 13 October at Cliburn Village Hall where their first ever performance took place.
The choir was originally set up to perform at a concert for Hospice at Home and was made up from children from the Eden Valley.
The choir as is today was a natural progression as family and friends came along to join in – there are now more than 30 members. Middle Eden Voices has performed at many events and for a variety of organisations over the past 10 years, including weddings, birthday parties, and anniversaries. They have also taken part in extensive fundraising for charities and have showcased young local talent.
The choir is particularly delighted to welcome two talented soloists for the evening who used to sing with them. Jessica Harper is a very promising Soprano from High Hesket. She is currently studying music at King’s College London, and is studying singing with Glenville Hargreaves at the Royal Academy of Music.
Eliza, who hails from Long Marton, appeared on The Voice UK 2018 in Team Tom Jones. She is taking a gap year after completing her A levels and is spending some time working at Sunbeams Music Trust before she pursues her own solo career and further studies.
Musical director and founder, Barbara Gilbertson, said: “I am so excited to have reached this milestone and we are still going strong. Middle Eden Voices is a happy and committed group of people who make my life richer every Wednesday evening. We sing for pure enjoyment as well as the wellbeing benefits. People always say they feel so good after a good sing! I am particularly delighted to welcome Eliza and Jessica back to perform with us. Previous members are also very welcome to come and join us for this special event.”
The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets which cost £8 are available from Barbara by calling 07713488565, emailing [email protected] or on the night at the door. Refreshments will also be available.
