The A595 is currently closed in both direction at West Lakes Science Park following a collision between a car and pedestrian.
The collision occurred shortly after 5.30pm today (24 Nov).
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “A Volkswagen car collided with a woman in her 20s who resides in the Whitehaven area.
“An air ambulance attended and the woman was taken to hospital in Preston with life-threatening injuries.”
Anyone who witnessed the collision and has yet to come forward is asked to contact police referencing incident 178 of 24 November, 2018.
