Woman seriously injured in A590 Newby Bridge crash

Police are currently dealing with a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A590 at Newby Bridge, Ulverston.

The vehicles involved are a Mitsubishi Shot Gun and a Mercedes Benz C220.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The driver of the Mitsubishi a 67-year-old man from Grange-over-sands, suffered no injuries.

“The driver of a Mercedes a woman from Grange-over-sands suffered serious injuries not believed to be life changing.

“The passenger of Mercedes suffered a minor head injury.”

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 16:20 hours on the 28th January 2019 two fire engines from Ulverston and Grange attended a road traffic accident with reports of persons trapped at Newby Bridge, Ulverston.

“On arrival fire crews quickly dealt with an accident involving two vehicles.

“Fire crews extricated one casualty who was trapped on arrival.

“Fire service remained in attendance making scene safe and assisting police and ambulance. the air ambulance also attended.

“Fire crews were detained for approximately fifty minutes.”
